VYRE Unify 4.2 – Recently Released New Version of Unify

The new version of Unify includes three new modules: e-commerce, Survey and Analysis, PDF templates, a new interface and many new features including content templates for maximum ease of use for content managers.

DAPS II

We have just finalised the second generation of our Digital Asset Processing Server (DAPS). These are the key areas of difference between DAPS I and II:

• Additional Video Formats – including QuickTime and Flash (FLV and SWF)
• Additional options to control media transformation
• Architecture – DAPS II offers greater control, flexibility and enhanced performance
• Enhanced metadata extraction capabilities with the new Unify Exchange Format
• DAPS II provides advanced processing abilities such as: rotating image, flip-flop image, stack multiple images, extracting sound track from video to audio.
• DAPS I provides basic extraction and indexing of metadata such as file size, creation date, text contents. DAPS II can extract additional data such as dimension, colour space, bit-rate, description and title from almost all popular media files. It can be extract advanced metadata as specified by the client such as XMP data.

Unify Metadata Exchange Format (UMEF)

The metadata exchange format is unique to Unify and provides a comprehensive schema of metadata fields. This encompasses all of the best known schemas such as Dublin Core, e-GIF and IPTC and greatly simplifies the storage of different rich media and content types within a single repository. Different metadata schemas can be activated to reflect collections or other classifications in the DAM solution.

The exchange format also automatically extracts embedded metadata and populates the appropriate fields within the schema. For instance, for a word document the information extracted could include author, number of pages, title and changes, for video it could include bit rate, transcode parameters, audio channels or field dimensions. The automatic extraction of embedded metadata delivers considerable cost and time savings.

Importal

Importal is an open source project sponsored by VYRE. It provides the tools for simple and rapid development of secure, distributed, presence aware applications that take advantage of secure Instant messaging protocols as a service delivery platform.
