VYRE will be releasing the new version of Unify (4.3) at Online Information at the end of November. Feature highlights include:

SCORE

Unify's Selective Content Replication module allows you to implement a decoupled delivery model across multi-cluster deployments. SCORE provides outstanding flexibility, efficiency and control allowing web applications, content and relationships to be selectively replicated to SCORE clusters. Key features include:

• Reduced distribution costs: SCORE allows you to apply business logic to deployment, eliminating inefficiency, errors and allowing you to streamline the deployment process
• Security - SCORE allows you to deploy content inside and outside firewalls with secured transactions, as well as restrict deployment to and from trusted servers
• SCORE's decoupled delivery model is accurate, secure and fully synchronised

DAPS II

The launch of DAPS II - the next generation of VYRE's unique binary file transformation engine - brings a whole swathe of powerful new features including:

• Additional video formats supported, Flash (FLV & SWF) and Quicktime (full list of formats available here)
• Advanced processing abilities such as: extracting sound track from video to audio, rotating image, flip-flop image, stack multiple images.
• Advanced support for Adobe Photoshop including the ability to run actions of images in content repositories
• Parallel processing of transformation requests and job validation
• Advanced metadata extraction: as well as standard metadata extraction (text, IPTC EXIF etc), DAPS II can extract dimension, bit rate, colour space etc from all popular media formats, as well as client defined metadata (eg XMP)

DAPS II also sees the introduction of the Unify Metadata Exchange Format (UMEF). The metadata exchange format is unique to Unify and provides a "super schema" of metadata fields. This encompasses all of the best known schemas such as Dublin Core, e-GIF and IPTC and greatly simplifies the storage of different rich media and content types within a single repository. Different metadata schemas can be activated to reflect collections or other classifications in the DAM solution.

The exchange format also automatically extracts embedded metadata and populates the appropriate fields within the schema. For instance, for a word document the information extracted could include author, number of pages, title and changes, for video it could include bit rate, transcode parameters, audio channels or field dimensions. The automatic extraction of embedded metadata delivers considerable cost and time savings.

Video Editing

Video editing has always been a time intensive and costly process and Unify 4.3 addresses this problem by enabling simple video editing to be performed on the fly with no prior training or knowledge of video.

The new editing tools allow a user to choose assets directly from the central repository and create a digital showreel. Items in the showreel can be re-ordered or deleted with simple drag and drop functionality and edited to include logo's and fades. The finished showreel can then be exported as a MPU file (which is a compressed audio format, same as MP3,) and finally played on Mac or Windows, i-Tunes or any other music player.

Translation, localization and locale based permissions

VYRE Unify 4.3 introduces powerful new capabilities for handling multilingual websites and web based applications unmatched by any other system on the market.

• One site can serve multiple locales simply by specifying the requested locale in the URL (en_GB.mysite.com) or as a query string.
• Access control localised content by assigning view and/or edit permissions for groups on a locale by locale basis.
• Filter locales on a page by page basis, giving you full control of the structure of your site based on the locale the user is viewing the site in, giving you full control of your content and presentation across the multinational enterprise.
• Powerful content import and export capabilities for integration with 3^rd party translation agencies, allowing you to import translated content and inherit metadata and linked items (such as images or other content) from a master version, as well as create multiple locales from a single translated language

Support for Ajax

VYRE Unify 4.3 allows you to create gateways to content repositories and user realms, allowing you to access content using AJAX. This means that complex interactive functionality can easily be implemented.
