Unify:MediaServer provides an extensive range of editing and transformation services. In fact, all the features needed to manage multiple video formats (MPEG, Quicktime, Real Media and Flash Video), images, audio, metadata and lots more.
Services include:
- Thumbnails: Generate thumbnails (JPEG, GIF, or PNG) from various file types
- Image conversions: Convert images to JPEG, GIF, or PNG, and resize or the change quality
- Image processing: Rotate, crop, change colour, space, etc.
- Metadata extraction: Extract IPTC and EXIF metadata from JPEG images
- Storyboards: Create a storyboard from a video file and grab frames
- Playlists: Create video, audio or presentation playlists and export to multiple devices
- Video previews: Generate lower quality video previews (Flash, Real Player, Windows Media and QT)
- Document previews: Generate PDF previews of documents
- Watermark: Watermark images or videos
- Extract text: Extract text content from Word documents and PDFs

- The file formats listed above can be processed by Unify:MediaServer.
- The Trans-Code column indicates which media formats can be converted to other media formats.
- The media formats marked with (+) have some restrictions on the conversion target formats.
- All file formats can be archived and stored in Unify even if they are not listed in the table above.
- Some video formats have many variations; Unify:MediaServer supports the most commonly used as standard. Unify:MediaServer has a pluggable architecture and certain file transformations and services for some of the formats above will require the customer to enter into 3rd party software license agreements.
