VYRE Unify supports the management of multiple user realms. This is handy for separating internal and external users or if you have multiple disparate user groups, which require different authentication and access control schemes.

There are two main types of user realms. One is database driven. And you can either choose to use the standard Unify database or map onto an existing user database. The other type is LDAP based with support for multiple LDAP, active directory servers and NTLM authentication. This means that if you are connected to your office network you are automatically authenticated on access controlled sites like intranets.

Each user realm contains a list of users and you can configure which user attributes are available for each realm. You can configure password strength and expiry rules, account locking when an invalid password is entered, and password encryption algorithms just to name a few features.

User realms support two types of user groups. One is a standard group where you can pick users by hand or automatically assign users to groups when they are created. Then there are dynamic profile groups which are powered by search. These are great for managing access of LDAP user groups where you can dynamically populate groups based on department names or any attribute available in the user profiles.

Permissions

Unify has a granular permission management functionality. You mark any of the following objects as access controlled: content repositories, sites, pages, portlets and down to fields within forms. Once you have done this you can configure the permissions in the user module. The permission matrix is based on read and write privileges for access controlled objects.

Audit trail

The user module also provides a search interface for audit trails where you can search for transactions in the system based on users, realms, modules and dates.
